Silvercup Studios: A Hub for Film and Television Production
Silvercup Studios stands as a monumental cornerstone in the world of film and television production. Nestled at 42-22 22nd Street, Long Island City, its main lot comprises 13 studios with unique features. These stages range from 3,000 to 18,000 square feet, with towering grid heights reaching up to 36 feet. Not far from there, the Silvercup East Lot at 34-02 Starr Avenue, Long Island City, houses five 16,000 square foot studios and one 9,400 square foot studio, each with grid heights of 28 feet.
Adding to its legacy, Silvercup Studios expanded its footprint in the summer of 2016 with the creation of the Silvercup North lot, located at 295 Locust Avenue in the South Bronx. This state-of-the-art facility boasts four studios, ranging from 8,800 square feet to 17,500 square feet, and boasts the highest grids among all three lots, soaring to 50 feet.
Silvercup Studios has an illustrious history, having opened its first studio within the iconic Silvercup Bakery's former flour silo in 1983. It swiftly rose to prominence as the largest independent, full-service film and television production facility in the northeastern United States.
These facilities offer more than just studios; they provide on-site production office spaces, as well as storage for sets, props, and wardrobe. Conveniently located minutes away from Midtown Manhattan, near the Queens Midtown Tunnel and the Queensboro 59th Street Bridge, both the main and east lots serve as ideal hubs for creative endeavors.
In addition to these production facilities, Silvercup Studios houses a fully-equipped on-site lighting and grip department, along with a lumber yard stocked with paint, hardware, and other set-building supplies. The studio's affiliated location lighting company, Silvertrucks, enhances the production experience by offering an array of lighting, grip equipment, and generators.
Silvercup Studios is not just a place where content is created; it's a dynamic center that empowers the magic of storytelling in the world of film and television
Silvercup Studios has been the canvas for countless iconic moments in the realm of film and television production. Nestled in Long Island City, New York, this renowned facility has played host to numerous blockbuster television series and Hollywood movies, earning its reputation as the Hollywood of the East Coast.
