Discover the Legacy of Art at Acquavella

For nearly a century, Acquavella Galleries has stood as a beacon of artistic excellence, showcasing the finest works from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Founded by Nicholas Acquavella in the early 1920s, this family-owned institution has witnessed three generations of dedication to the world of art.

Acquavella Galleries is renowned for its profound expertise in the realms of 19th, 20th, and 21st-century art. The gallery, originally established by Nicholas Acquavella in the early 1920s, has blossomed into a three-generation, family-owned enterprise. Bill Acquavella joined his father's journey in 1960, followed by his daughter Eleanor in 1997. Subsequently, his sons Nick and Alexander joined the ranks in 2000 and 2003, respectively.

On the primary market, the gallery proudly represents artists including Miquel Barceló, Jacob El Hanani, Damian Loeb, and Tom Sachs.

What initially started as a specialization in Italian Renaissance and old master paintings soon evolved under the guidance of Bill Acquavella. He expanded the gallery's scope to encompass a wide array of artistic movements, from Impressionism and Post-Impressionism to the revolutionary realms of Cubism and Surrealism. The late 1980s saw another transformative shift, as the gallery delved into the vibrant world of postwar and contemporary art, staying at the forefront of artistic innovation. Today, Acquavella Galleries continues to hold a distinguished position in the art world, consistently showcasing remarkable works by some of the most influential artists in history. Its exhibitions regularly feature masterpieces from the likes of Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, Joan Miró, Fernand Léger, Paul Klee, Alberto Giacometti, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, Jean Paul Riopelle, Jean Dubuffet, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Lucian Freud.

Moreover, on the primary market, the gallery takes pride in representing contemporary talents who are making waves in the art world. This includes renowned artists such as Miquel Barceló, Jacob El Hanani, Damian Loeb, and Tom Sachs, reflecting a commitment to both the historic masters and the exciting voices of today's art scene.

With a dedication to excellence and a rich history of artistic engagement, Acquavella Galleries continues to be a beacon of artistic inspiration, making significant contributions to the world of art and culture.
