MEET ALIREZA SHOJAEI, THE TORONTO BASED UPRISING ACTOR, WRITER AND PRODUCER
Alireza Shojaei is an actor, writer and filmmaker represented and based in Toronto, Canada. He has appeared on shows such as Nikita, Dark Matter, Mayday and the Lottery.
He is also the founder of EGT Films based in Toronto. He has written, produced and directed multiple short films, including Radio Wedding (2017) and Itchy (2019). He is currently the co-producer and co-writer on Wulfgang production’s upcoming short film; Charter.
Born in Shiraz, Iran, Alireza moved to Toronto at the age of 13. After graduating from college in medical lab, he got involved in acting and fell in love with the film industry.
Alireza then attended York University for Psychology and Acting. He loves theatre as well and has studied with Larry Moss in New York City. He was recently cast as the lead playing the role of James McDermot in Shadowpath theatre’s production of Dinner with Grace, directed by Alex Karolyi. During his early twenties, Alireza began to like the process of filmmaking as well and worked on multiple films as part of the creative team. He was the executive producer of Transcendent and associate producer on From Henry Brown to God.
Some of his favourite directors include Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher and Denis Villeneuve. Going with his roots, he also loves films by Iranian filmmakers Asghar Farhadi and Abbas Kiarostami.
He finds writing very inspiring, when he is not working on any projects. He also loves reading and is inspired by some of the greatest writers in the world such as Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams and Rumi.
His aim is to work with great creatives and make amazing stories come to life.
