RARELY-SEEN PIECES FROM THE DIOR ARCHIVES WILL BE ON DISPLAY IN NEW EXHIBIT

In February 1947, French couturier Christian Dior unveiled his first-ever couture collection titled "New Look," featuring sculpted hour-glass silhouettes that celebrated an embrace of femininity and glamour after World War II.

To showcase the lasting legacy of the brand on the fashion world, London's Victoria & Albert Museum will put Dior's iconic designs on display in an expansive exhibit dubbed Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams.

The exhibit will officially be open to the public in February 2019 and will explore the luxury brand's 70-year history, including the six artistic directors that succeeded Dior in the years since the label's founding.

DESIGNER OF DREAMS

"Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams celebrates one of the most ingenious and iconic designers in fashion history," Tim Reeve, deputy director and COO of the V&A, said in a statement.

"Reimagining this hugely popular exhibition from Paris –as the largest fashion exhibition the V&A has undertaken since Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty–will shed new light on Dior’s fascination with Britain.”

The Dior exhibit will run from February 2 - July 14, 2019. Tickets for the exhibit go on sale this fall 2018.
